Sleeping:
Rebekah's nap continues to be 1:30 to about 3:30 but she usually waits quietly in her bed until 4 when I am finally ready to get her up. That time between 4 and whenever her sister gets up (usually about 4:30) is such a nice special time for us to spend time together, just her and mommy. Her nighttime sleep continues to go well. We gave her a pillow this month and she was excited about it at first but didn't sleep on it, just kind of scooted off of it. Within a few days however, she loved it and now we have to say good-bye to it after sleep time in addition to her blankie. She also has taken an interest in the animals on her sheets. One sets has ducks and frogs and the other sheep. Once I turn the light on in her room there is always several minutes of pointing out each animal.
Eating:
Two molars came in during this month and naturally her appetite took a little hit accordingly but things seem to be back to normal now. Rebekah is not a huge fan of kefir milk which is part of our morning snack (when we have it). I usually have to withhold snack until she takes a few sips of it. I have been doing kefir in the morning during these early months of potty training. She gets water in the afternoon. Her use of the fork and spoon is still going well and she continues to be pretty proud of herself when she uses her utensils.
Play:
I am so glad that we took a stand on solo play! Lately she has been running to her room for her playtime; it just brings a smile to my face. She is doing really well even with the potty training and solo play with minimal accidents in there. Of course she loves all the gifts that Faith got for her birthday so those have been the big toys around here for a few weeks. She really enjoys the chunky puzzles. She can get in and out of the raised playgrounds by herself now and go down the slides as well which makes park time so much less work for me :) She has also started "hanging" at the park as well, imitating her sister at tumbling class. Reading to her dolls and stuffed animals has also started this month which is always heartwarming each time I see it. Sister play is also going well and I think they really enjoy hanging out with just each other. Rebekah does not like getting glue on her hands so it has been slightly challenging during craft time but she is getting more used to it. She is not that into coloring but she still loves to be involved in whatever we are doing and I have never had a problem with her during preschool, she loves to be a part of the group.
Skills:
Potty training Rebekah has been so awesome. The first week of course was terrible and exhausting and even by Friday I was wondering if we'd made any progress at all but then by Monday it was like a little light went off in her head and she got it. Part of the ease of this I am sure is because I am more calm about it, knowing that this is the best road to go down after seeing the results with Faith. Please make no assumptions that it has been perfect, we have had plenty of accidents but almost all of them have been at home, rarely (in fact as I write this I can't even think of one) out in public. She does not like to go in public and if we are only going to be out for an hour or so, I don't even bother taking her. She also has an aversion to sitting on the big potty without the potty seat. Within the last 2 weeks she has been much better about telling us when she needs to go and has only a few times said she needed to go in order to get out of doing whatever it was she was doing :)
I feel like Rebekah's language has just exploded this month. She tries to repeat everything Frank and I say in addition to everything Faith says. Her answer is always "uh-hu" whenever you ask her a question, it is cute. Her climbing skills are much improved. She can get up and down the step to the porch by herself and gets on and off the couch. Which actually she has been getting off the couch for over a month now but she gets on using my stool so not exactly by herself.
